Finding The Cheapest Gas Prices

Back in the good old days, when gas prices were still under fifty cents a gallon, friends, family, co-workers, and even total strangers were proud to tell you where they found the cheapest gas station prices. In those days, gas wars were common, and the radio disc jockeys would keep you informed of where they were happening at any given time.

In the early seventies, an infamous oil embargo, would change the American landscape forever. Drastic times called for drastic measures. People were forced to wait in line at gas stations for hours, praying they didn’t run out of gas before their turn at the pump. Once at the pump, the amount they could buy was rationed, and they were limited to getting gas on either even or odd days, determined by their tag number. The scramble was on to dump their monstrous “gas guzzlers” in favor of the more “gas miserly” compact imports.

Paying as much as four dollars per gallon today has us scrambling again, however, it’s much easier to find the cheapest gas station prices. All it takes is a computer with internet access and following a few simple steps:

1. Boot up your computer
2. Type “cheapest gas prices” in your web browsers search engine
3. Click on search
4. Choose a web page from the options listed
5. Type in your zip code (of all the options listed, this is simplest)
6. Click on search

Here you will be given many options. Depending on the web page you have decided to use for your search, you will be given the gas stations information. It’s location, the name of the establishment, brand of gas and their price in real time.

One of the really nice options you’ll be offered is a trip cost calculator. Upon entering a starting point, a final destination, and your vehicles information, you’ll be given a cost estimation for your trip, the best places to refuel along the route, and even a map of your route if you so desire. These aren’t the good old days, however, they aren’t that bad, are they?
